Education Qualification & Experience :

  1. Junior Secretariat Assistant (General)
    • Qualification: 10+2/XIIth or its equivalent.
    • Additional Requirement: Proficiency in computer typing speed and usage as per prescribed norms.

    • Qualification: 10+2/XIIth or its equivalent.

Age Limit :

  1. Junior Secretariat Assistant (General)
    • Upper Age Limit: 28 years as of 05 May 2025
    • Relaxations:
      • SC/ST: +5 years
      • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): +3 years
      • PwBD: +10 years (additional relaxations apply for SC/ST/OBC PwBD)
      • Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation by 3 years after deduction of military service rendered
      • Other relaxations: Widows, Divorced Women, and Judicially Separated Women (UR/OBC): Up to 35 years; SC/ST: Up to 40 years.

How to Apply :

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to https://recruit.ncl.res.in.
  2. Create an Email ID: Ensure you have a valid email ID for communication. If you don’t have one, create it before applying.
  3. Fill Out the Online Application :
    • Carefully read the instructions available on the website.
    • Complete the application form with accurate details, including your active email ID and mobile number.
  4. Upload Required Documents: Scan and upload the necessary documents:
    • Passport-size photo (max size 100 KB).
    • Signature (max size 50 KB).
    • Relevant certificates (max size 3 MB each).
  5. Pay the Application Fee:
    • Fee: ₹500 for UR/OBC/EWS candidates.
    • Women/SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Permanent CSIR employees are exempt.
    • Payments can be made via UPI, Net Banking, Credit/Debit cards.
    • Save and upload the acknowledgment receipt of payment.
  6. Select Preferences: Indicate your cadre preferences among General, Finance & Accounts, and Stores & Purchase.
  7. Verify Details: Before submitting, ensure all details and uploads are correct, and preview the application.
  8. Submit Application:
    • Once submitted successfully, your application will be accepted provisionally.
    • Save the acknowledgment and print the completed form for your records.
  9. No Hard Copies: Do NOT send a printed copy of your application form to CSIR-NCL.

Application Fee :

  • Amount: ₹500 for candidates belonging to Unreserved (UR), OBC, and EWS categories.
  • Exemptions: No fee for Women, SC/ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and Permanent CSIR Employees.

Payment Method:

  • The fee can be paid online through UPI, Net Banking, or using Credit/Debit cards.
  • Note: Fees once paid will not be refunded or adjusted under any circumstances.

Mode of Selection :

1. Written Examination

  • Paper I: Mental Ability Test (Qualifying in nature)
    • Total Questions: 100
    • Total Marks: 200
    • No negative marking.
  • Paper II: General Awareness and English Language
    • Total Questions: 100 (50 each)
    • Total Marks: 300
    • Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

2. Typing Speed Test (Qualifying in Nature)

  • English Typing Speed: 35 w.p.m
  • Hindi Typing Speed: 30 w.p.m
  • Typing speed will be tested over a duration of 10 minutes.
  • PwBD candidates may be exempted from the typing test with appropriate medical documentation.

3. Final Merit List

  • Based on marks obtained in Paper II.
  • Tie-breaker methods include:
    1. Fewer negative marks.
    2. Older candidate by date of birth.
    3. Higher educational qualification date.
    4. Alphabetical order of first names.

Exam Syllabus

Paper-I: Mental Ability Test (Qualifying in Nature)

  • Subjects Covered:
    • General Intelligence
    • Quantitative Aptitude
    • Reasoning
    • Problem Solving
    • Situational Judgment
  • Number of Questions: 100
  • Maximum Marks: 200 (2 marks per correct answer)
  • Negative Marking: None
  • Duration: 90 minutes

Paper-II: General Awareness & English Language

  • Subjects Covered:
    • General Awareness (50 questions)
    • English Language (50 questions)
  • Number of Questions: 100
  • Maximum Marks: 300 (3 marks per correct answer)
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer
  • Duration: 60 minutes

Typing Test (Qualifying in Nature)

  • English Typing Speed: 35 words per minute
  • Hindi Typing Speed: 30 words per minute
  • Typing Duration: 10 minutes
  • Key Depressions Per Hour: 10,500 for English and 9,000 for Hindi (approx.)

Candidates who are eligible for a scribe will be given compensatory time and can opt for the Passage Dictator feature for typing.
