Salary :
The Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) position offers a starting basic pay of ₹19,900 under Pay Level-2 of the 7th Pay Commission. Including allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and others per month.
Education Qualification :
A) Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognised institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades of Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air- Conditioning Mechanic. (OR) Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above (OR) B)Matriculation / SSLC plus three years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering (OR) combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution in lieu of ITI. Note: Degree in the Engineering disciplines as above will also be acceptable in lieu of Diploma in Engineering.

Application Fee :
- General, OBC, and EWS candidates: ₹500. Out of this, ₹400 will be refunded after appearing in the first stage CBT (Computer-Based Test), minus bank charges.
- SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates: ₹250. This amount will be fully refunded after appearing in the first stage CBT, minus bank charges.
The payment can only be made online through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.
Mode of Selection :
- First Stage CBT (Computer-Based Test): This is a screening test with 75 questions covering Mathematics, Mental Ability, General Science, and General Awareness. It lasts for 60 minutes and has negative marking for incorrect answers.
- Second Stage CBT: This consists of two parts:
- Part A: 100 questions on general subjects, lasting 90 minutes.
- Part B: 75 questions from the relevant trade syllabus, lasting 60 minutes. Part B is qualifying in nature.
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Candidates shortlisted from CBT-2 will appear for CBAT, which tests aptitude and does not have negative marking.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will undergo verification of their original documents.
- Medical Examination: Candidates must meet stringent medical standards, including vision requirements.

First Stage CBT (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Subjects:
- Mathematics: Topics include Number System, Decimals, Fractions, Percentages, Time and Work, Profit and Loss, etc.
- Mental Ability: Covers Analogies, Coding-Decoding, Data Interpretation, and more.
- General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.
- General Awareness: Current Affairs, Sports, Culture, Economics, and Politics.
Second Stage CBT
